Why these 3 startup incubators may be the key to scaling your startup

We have not ranked these incubators in any particular order, and are solely based on our views. There are other good incubators out there that may be beneficial to your startup, depending on your needs.


1. The Kenya Climate Innovation Centre (KCIC) incubation program


KCIC offers a 12-month program targeting startup and early stage companies.

The minimum requirement: A prototype.


What they promise to help you achieve:

  • Product development

  • Business model refinement

  • Market entry

  • Graduate into the Green-tech Accelerator Program

This program is only limited to green-tech entrepreneurs i.e. renewable energy, agribusiness and water management.



2. Villgro Kenya


This is an early stage business incubator and impact investor that is focused on startups and companies that;

  • Target people living in poverty in the rural urban locations.

  • Target people who lack quality affordable healthcare.


So yes. This one is solely focused on healthcare.


What they promise to help you achieve;

  • Receive funding from $20,000 i.e approximately KES 2,000,000

  • Business development expertise

  • Access to investors and further investment opportunities

They have a preference for;

  • Scalable and sustainable business models

  • Startups/companies that are led by a multidisciplinary team (i.e. diverse skills in various disciplines, e.g. marketing, finance, healthcare, etc)

  • A minimum viable product


3. Ibiz Africa


Targets companies that develop ICT solutions and businesses that work for the common good of the society.


What they promise you;

  • Access to a dedicated space.

  • Access to finances

  • Mentoring and coaching

  • Business training

  • Pitch Friday

IBiz's pitch Friday application is an elevator pitch based format. The founder gets 5 minutes to pitch ideas to business mentors, entrepreneurs and investors.
